Collab: Growing Stronger

The news had been grave. Adela's heart sunk once the words were spoken to her. 'Rodwen has just escaped the jaws of death. His siblings were not so lucky, they have been lost to the Fellfangir.' She was one of the first to know, and so one of the first to retrieve a small Rodwen from the edge of the unknown, to bring him back to familiarity. His expression showed nothing but terror, and regret. She felt immediate sorrow for the boy.

There was no time to dwell upon what had happened, though. She needed to tend to his wounds, which showed themselves primarily as a thorny vine twisted tightly around his paw. The skin that was making contact with the vine was irritated, and swolen; and Adela knew that untangling it from him would hurt greatly.

She didn't talk at first, but was prepared to give him solace as she began fiddling with the thorns. He made no sounds, though, and it was obvious the wounds were stronger in his mind than on his body. She sighed, brows furrowed but eyes tender, "Rodwen, my nephew... as you grow, you'll find that life does not get easier, and that the only way one can survive is to simply grow stronger. What happened was a tragedy, but you are still here, living, what does that tell you?"

"Because it tells me that you are destined for great things, and you will only grow stronger from here. So focus on that, focus on growing your strength so that in the future there is nothing that could possibly bend or break you." She lifted his head with her paw, wiping his tears, before hastily getting back to the vine embedded in his skin as though her tenderness had never shown.

A sweet collab with the wonderful Ink-Bruises ! Jodi did the adorable characters and I did the BG and shading! Can't get over how much I love these two. Adela is such a wise and caring Aunt.
